What the customer list upload does

Upload a CSV with one row per customer and one column per month of recurring revenue, and Founderpath calculates your MRR and ARR and the monthly movements behind them: new, expansion, contraction, churned and reactivated MRR. It gives Founderpath your subscription metrics when your billing system is not one Founderpath connects to, or when you invoice customers by hand.

How to lay out the CSV

Download the template from the upload screen in your Founderpath account, or build the file yourself:

  • First column: each customer's email or customer ID. A customer listed twice is added together.
  • Every other column header is a month, such as Jan 2025, 2025-01 or 1/15/2025. Leave out future months.
  • Each cell holds that month's MRR as a plain number. Spread annual plans across their months. Leave a cell blank when the customer paid nothing that month, never "n/a" or a note.
  • Choose the currency of your amounts on the upload screen. Amounts are not converted, so use one currency for the whole file.

In this example, the first customer expands in March and the second churns.

What happens after you upload

  1. Founderpath checks the file. Most files are checked in under a minute.
  2. Each customer's monthly revenue becomes MRR and ARR, split into new, expansion, contraction, churned and reactivated revenue.
  3. Those metrics join the rest of your data for underwriting. Founderpath aims to make a funding offer within 24-48 hours of your data being connected.

An upload is a snapshot. Upload a fresh file when a new month closes.

What a customer list cannot show

The file carries revenue by customer and month only. It has no payments, invoices, failed charges or plans, so payment success and dunning are not measured from it. A live billing connection such as Stripe, Chargebee, Recurly or Paddle keeps these numbers current without re-uploads.

Questions

Customer list upload questions

The first column holds each customer's email or customer ID. Every other column header is a month, such as Jan 2025 or 2025-01, with no future months. Each cell holds that month's MRR as a plain number, blank when the customer paid nothing. A template is available on the upload screen.
Spread them across the months they cover. A $12,000 annual plan is entered as 1,000 in each of its 12 months.

Yes. An upload is a snapshot, so upload a fresh file when a new month closes. A live billing connection such as Stripe or Chargebee updates without re-uploads.
When Founderpath does not connect to your billing system, or when you invoice customers by hand. If you bill through Stripe, Chargebee, Recurly or Paddle, connecting it directly keeps your metrics current without monthly uploads.
