What the bank statement upload does

Upload the PDF statements your bank issues, and Founderpath reads each account's transactions and opening and closing balances into the same bank analysis a live connection feeds. It is the way to share bank data when your bank is not available through a live connection, or when you would rather not authorize one.

Looking for the free Bank Statement Converter? That is a separate tool. The Bank Statement Converter turns PDF bank statements into a CSV file, with no account needed. It does not send anything to Founderpath underwriting. This page is about uploading statements to a Founderpath account.

What to upload

  • The PDF your bank issues. It shows the statement period and the opening and closing balances. A screenshot, a scan or a CSV export does not work.
  • Every business account. One statement per account per month, or one multi-month export.
  • No password on the file. Remove it first, or the file cannot be opened.
  • Up to 30 files at a time.

What happens after you upload

  1. Founderpath reads each statement's period, balances and transactions. A batch takes 5 to 10 minutes to read.
  2. Your account balances are rebuilt month by month from the statements.
  3. The result joins your other data for underwriting. Founderpath aims to make a funding offer within 24-48 hours of your data being connected.

An upload is a snapshot. Upload new statements each month to keep the numbers current.

Upload or live connection?

A live bank connection updates every day and reads cleaner than PDFs. Founderpath connects US and Canadian banks through Plaid, and other banks through Salt Edge. Choose the upload when your bank is not available there, or when you prefer to send statements yourself.

Bank data shows cash. Subscription revenue and financial statements come from separate sources, such as Stripe for billing and QuickBooks Online or Xero for accounting.
